J’ai une formation historienne complète, avec un baccalauréat, une maîtrise (Université de Montréal) et un doctorat (UQÀM 2009) en histoire. Pendant mes études, j’ai pu développer mes compétences en recherche, en enseignement et en communication. J’ai été membre active d’un groupe de recherche interuniversitaire très inclusif envers les étudiants et j’ai bénéficié du mentorat d’historiennes exceptionnelles.

Aujourd’hui, je suis directrice adjointe à la recherche à l’École de gestion de l’Université de Sherbrooke, un poste qui fait appel à toutes les compétences acquises pendant mes études. Mon rôle consiste notamment à soutenir, animer et valoriser la recherche en gestion et en économie, que ce soit en accompagnant les chercheurs dans leurs demandes de subvention, en diffusant les nouvelles de la recherche, en coordonnant le personnel facultaire en recherche ou en organisant un concours annuel d’affiches scientifiques pour les étudiants des cycles supérieurs. Je dois être en mesure de connaître et d’expliquer les règlements et politiques institutionnels entourant la gestion des fonds de recherche, les conflits d’intérêt, l’éthique en recherche et les études supérieures.

Grâce à ma formation, je comprends bien l’interdisciplinarité, je connais l’univers subventionnaire, je sais comment donner de la rétroaction constructive, je maîtrise les enjeux de la communication et de la publication scientifiques. Atout parfois sous-estimé, les historiens sont aussi experts pour trouver de l’information! Les chercheurs avec qui je travaille reconnaissent ces compétences et les apprécient. Dans mon quotidien, je côtoie les professeurs et les étudiants de ma faculté, ainsi que le personnel de presque tous les services de l’Université. J’utilise la créativité acquise en recherche pour mener à bien des projets. J’adore mon travail et le milieu dans lequel j’évolue, et la discipline historique n’est jamais très loin de mon quotidien.

I have a complete background in history, with a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree (Université de Montréal) and a doctorate (UQÀM 2009). During my studies, I was able to develop my research, teaching and communication skills. I was an active member of a very student-inclusive inter-university research group and was mentored by outstanding historians.

Today, I am the Assistant Director of Research at the École de gestion de l’Université de Sherbrooke, a position that draws on all the skills I acquired during my studies. My role includes supporting, facilitating and promoting research in management and economics, whether by accompanying researchers in their grant applications, disseminating research news, coordinating faculty research staff or organizing an annual scientific poster competition for graduate students. I must be able to understand and explain the institutional regulations and policies surrounding the management of research funds, conflicts of interest, research ethics and graduate studies.

Through my training, I have a good understanding of interdisciplinarity, I know the funding world, I know how to give constructive feedback, I fully understand the issues of scientific communication and publication. Another asset that is often underestimated, historians are also experts at finding information! The researchers I work with recognize and appreciate these skills. In my daily life, I interact with the professors and students in my faculty, as well as with the staff of almost all the University’s departments. I use the creativity I have acquired in research to carry out projects. I love my work and the environment in which I live, and the historical discipline is never far from my daily life.
