Ohan Stamboulian: Cultural and Events Administrator, Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville

Ohan graduated from York University with his Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in History in 2016. He is now employed as the Cultural and Events Administrator for the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville. Ohan accepted this role after completing a Curatorial Programming Internship and working as an Educational Program Instructor at the Markham Museum as well as the position of Historical Interpreter at the Whitchurch-Stouffville Museum & Community Centre.

As the Cultural and Events Administrator, Ohan is involved with the development, coordination, administration, and marketing of various Town Events and Programs within the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville. With a varied roster of community events such as Stouffville Country Ribfest, Food Truck Frenzy, OktoberFair, Movies in the Park, and many other local festivals, he works closely with the Events Coordinator to bring culture to the forefront in his hometown. Ohan believes strongly that his History Degree has been a tremendous asset in developing the skills required to work in the Cultural Sector. His interest in history, specifically in a local context, began several years ago and Ohan has always attempted to consider all angles for a deeper and more inclusive understanding of the broader historical context. This passion rendered his Undergraduate Degree at York University to be focused on identifying key themes in local history within the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville. Ohan is thrilled to be working in the Town’s Department of Culture where he often finds himself referencing his research and education from York University’s History Department.

Ohan Stamboulian: Administrateur des événements culturels, Ville de Whitchurch-Stouffville

Ohan a obtenu un baccalauréat ès arts, avec spécialisation en histoire de l’Université York en 2016. Il est maintenant employé à titre d’administrateur des événements culturels pour la ville de Whitchurch-Stouffville. Ohan a accepté ce rôle après avoir complété un stage en programmation éducative et travaillé comme instructeur de programme éducatif au Musée de Markham ainsi que comme interprète historique au Whitchurch-Stouffville Museum & Community Centre.

En tant qu’administrateur des événements culturels, Ohan est impliqué dans le développement, la coordination, l’administration et la commercialisation de divers événements et programmes de la ville Whitchurch-Stouffville. Il il travaille en étroite collaboration avec le coordonnateur des événements dans le cadre de la tenue d’événements communautaires tels que le Stouffville Country Ribfest, Food Truck Frenzy, OktoberFair, Movies in the Park et autres festivals locaux pour pouvoir mettre la culture en lumière dans sa ville natale. Ohan croit fermement que son diplôme d’histoire a été un formidable atout pour développer les compétences requises pour pouvoir travailler dans le secteur culturel. Son intérêt pour l’histoire, en particulier l’histoire locale, date de plusieurs années et Ohan a toujours tenté d’analyser la situation sous différents angles pour favoriser une meilleure compréhension intégrale du contexte historique élargi. Cette passion pour l’histoire locale a ainsi mené Ohan à identifier des thèmes clés de l’histoire locale de la ville de Whitchurch-Stouffville durant ses études de premier cycle à l’Université York. Ohan est ravi de travailler au département de la culture de la ville, où il se sert souvent des leçons tirées des recherches qu’il a menées durant ses études au département d’histoire de l’Université York
